Arrests: 8 cases of public drunkenness 1 case of prostitution in public areas of the BlkDragon District 1 case of dangerous operation of a conveyance (a carriage while intoxicated) 1 case of trespassing and damage to property by a child not yet adult 1 case of attempted petty theft, brought in with minor injuries 1 case of seditious libel against a Crown official 1 case of drunk and disorderly conduct (by said Crown official, a clerk in the employ of the City Granaries) Magical duplicates of the arrest papers are attached. Reports: SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY AT A PRIVATE RESIDENCE At half past the Third Night Bell, a young woman named Suzy Dizoruin entered the main Guardhouse and asked to place a report of suspicious activity. Ms. Dizoruin works as a flower delivery girl for a local grower, and she was making a scheduled weekly delivery to the house of a Mr. Loren, who she understands to be a magician of some skill. Normally, he answers the door himself, but tonight the door was opened by a stranger. The man was tall and thin apparently human, wearing black clothing. His skin was a pale white, and had a pattern of blue veins at his jawline and temple ((this is a description of Ixyxlo'xnx in one of his guises)). At first, the man blocked Miss Dizoruin's view of the premises. However, a loud crash of breaking glass echoed from the back room, and the man left to go back there, inviting Miss Dizoruin in. Miss Dizoruin stepped inside and requested payment for the flowers, and another stranger stepped out of the back. She was a beautiful, very fair-skinned, petite blonde human in a fine purple silk dress with a "fancy-looking" hairstyle ((this is a description of Isabelle)). The woman inquired as to Miss Dizoruin's purpose, and once told, informed the girl that Mr. Loren was busy and in no need of flowers. The woman dismissed Miss Dizoruin. As the girl left, she heard what sounded like a scream or shout coming from inside, although she was unsure due to the intervening walls. Miss Dizoruin appeared shaken by the experience, and was sure there was something odd going on. This officer recommends a courtesy visit to Mr. Loren's house at ((address)) in the morning, and for other guardsfolk to keep an eye out for the described individuals being involved in any suspicious behavior. Miss Dizoruin provided her current address, enclosed, and is willing to answer further questions should the need arise. ALLEGED ATTEMPTED MIND RAPE Mr. Bodkin of Terrace Crescent again reports an attempt by Arms-Lieutenant Kirin Arnise to sexually assault him in his dreams. According to Mr. Bodkin, Lt. Arnise appeared out of uniform and performing a series of provocative poses, and could only be fought off by creative use of a basin of clotted cream that was present in said dream. Mr. Bodkin demanded that Lt. Arnise be reprimanded, although he said that an apology in person would cause him to drop charges. It is this officer's recommendation that Lt. Arnise remain above suspicion barring more conclusive evidence of wrongdoing, despite this being Mr. Bodkin's twelfth report of mental intrusion by various guardsmen and other armored/uniformed individuals. NOISE COMPLAINTS 14 noise complaints, including one by a husband against his wife. Details of each are attached. Conclusion: An unremarkable evening with the exception of Miss Dizoruin's report. As it is the end of my shift, I am passing responsibility over to the Morning Officer and returning home. By my hand, Spellcaster Peony Heatherdown of the Upper Darian Night Officer on Duty ((--Hatshepsut)) From tshirtninja at hotmail.com Sat Aug 15 23:08:53 2009 From: tshirtninja at hotmail.com (Alex M.) Date: Sat, 15 Aug 2009 21:08:53 -0700 Subject: [Royal Guard] An Imp's Arrest In-Reply-To: References: Message-ID: 15.VIII.479 Around the time of the Third Night Bell I was summoned to the King's Inn by a runner sent by Dulcina. The runner stated that an imp, later identified as Jeen had attempted to remove the hair of a woman named Maeljin. An argument resulted, quickly followed by a confrontation. A small sprite by the name of Tinker intervened, apparently using some powerful fire magics in his attempt to subdue the imp. By the time I arrived, several chairs and tables had been burned beyond repair. Identifying Jeen as the aggressor, I put him in shackles and gave Tinker a strict warning against using fire magic in the Inn's premises. It is my opinion that Tinker, who appears to serve Maeljin in some capacity, is nonetheless a significant threat if correctly provoked. Though he seemed to have calmed down upon my entry, other members of the Guard would do well to exercise caution in future interactions with Tinker. Another sprite by the name of Sorcha was a witness to the aforementioned events, though firsthand accounts do not place her in the altercation, merely its vicinity. As of this writing, Jeen is in holding at the Guardhouse and awaiting sentencing. SIGNED, CURSOR SERVILIUS -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... However, we instead encountered the suspected demon [description of Khamalah] noted in an Inn log by a staff member.? The individual approached us, intent unknown, and was greeted in turn with our arrest procedures.? I instructed the suspect to face the wall and interlock her fingers behind her head while Corporal Grafsburg shackled her and disarmed her.? It was at this point that another individual [description of Cain*' follows] approached the arresting officer and demanded to know what we were doing. I ran interference for the Corporal and told [Cain] to step aside and back off.? He failed to heed my first warning and after a failed second verbal order was given for him to disperse, I took him down to one knee with my truncheon. In our arrest of [Khamalah], we were joined by backup consisting of several additional Armsmen, one of whom was Spellcaster Heatherdown, who I instructed to arrest [Cain'] for failure to comply and obstruction of justice.? She was able to shackle the individual without further incident. Also amongst the company of law enforcement officials present was the Honorable Caladon ul-Carador Lazbek, who wished to sentence the two suspects right there in the Inn.? As such, both shackled individuals were brought forth.? [Cain'] pleaded guilty to the two misdemeanor charges and was sentenced to be physically beaten by Corporal Grafsburg by order or the Magistrate.? The other individual [Khamalah], admitted to being a demon, but sentencing was held, as Spellcaster Heatherdown advised the Magistrate regarding the state of the suspected demon. It was the Magistrate's ruling that the suspected demon be granted probationary freedom for the time being under the court-appointed guardianship of Spellcaster Heatherdown. In the course of Corporal Grafsburg's duties of carrying out punishment on [Cain'], it was discovered that the individual he was striking was bleeding black blood and bore fangs.? The Honorable Caladon ul-Carador Lazbek found the individual to be guilty of being a demon and sentenced him to death - a punishment exacted personally in the Inn. In conclusion of this report, I want to commend all officials involved in this particular arrest and trial.? This was textbook perfection in cooperation between the judiciary arm of the Crown and law enforcement in Drache.? I must say I deeply wish we saw more of this kind of roll-out in the future when serving warrants. On the evening of 23.VIII.479, a man named Toliver ((description)) and a woman named Aislin ((description)) brought in a very young dragon, approximately a week in age. The dragon was bound and muzzled, and had reportedly caused trouble in the kitchen of the BlkDragon Inn. I determined that the dragon could understand Draconic, but could not speak. It nodded in confirmation that it had no parent or guardian, so I took it into custody of the state until a proper guardian could be found, as it is far too young to care for itself and could accidentally cause harm to itself or others without proper supervision. Toliver also reported that in the process of capturing the dragon, he had been attacked by a man ((description of Mahtan, a drow)) who seemed to believe that Toliver meant the dragon harm. Toliver was unharmed, but wished to make a formal report. He asserted that the man had thrown a knife and set some sort of dog on him in the middle of the Inn, but that Toliver was able to stab the dog in self defense and escape unscathed with the dragon. Toliver's written report is attached. Shortly thereafter, a hooded man entered the guardhouse asking after the dragon. I insisted he remove his hood, and he did so reluctantly, revealing that he matched the description of Toliver's assailant ((Mahtan)). He informed me that he was being pursued by people who wished him harm, and provided a clearly false name. Given his insistence that his life was in danger, I have placed his false name and a description of his disguise in the locked confidential file cabinet, indexed under the number of this report. ((The confidential file contains a description of Izzlyn and the name "Izzlyn.")) The man verified Toliver's story, and claimed that he was concerned for the dragon's freedom and well-being. He expressed a wish to take on the responsibilities of caring for the dragon. In the process of doing so, he disclosed that he lived in a cave, and that his pursuers were fellow Vuulari who had been pursuing him for over eighty years. I informed him that the chances of a man unwilling to disclose his real name, with his circumstances, were slim, but said that I would place his application in the proper channels. The man was very insistent that he be permitted to take the dragon immediately. I informed him that the dragon would be well-cared for. Eventually, he gave up and allowed me to file his request through normal channels. Before leaving with some abusive words, he insisted on leaving behind three quaspins as payment for my time, saying that it was not a bribe. Accordingly, I placed the coins in the box for the Guard Widows and Orphans Fund. The dragon is currently in reinforced Cell #4 with food, water, and bedding. She should be let out periodically for play and exercise and fed with meat. Be careful, as she is a sentient, wild beast who does not wish to be kept inside, but it is for her own good. By my hand, Spellcaster Peony Heatherdown of the Upper Darian ((The following is written in a different hand.)) ADDENDUM: After Spellcaster Heatherdown left for the evening, I was in charge of caring for the dragon. The dragon made noises as if she was sick, so I opened the cell door to check on her, at which point she threw her water bowl at my head, ran between my legs, tripped me with her tail, and slammed the door shut. She escaped out the front door and I was trapped in the cell for an hour until Clerk Hanson let me out. I accept full responsibility for the dragon's escape. Clerk Ruxtod ((The following is in Peony's hand.)) ADDENDUM II: Clerk Ruxtod should not be judged too harshly, in my opinion; even a newly-hatched dragon is as smart as a teenager. It seems he was simply outsmarted. If the dragon is seen in the custody of ((Mahtan)) and he does not remit the dragon to the guard, I recommend that he be arrested for kidnapping.
