[Royal Guard] Mindflayers

Unto Captain Von Stahl and Lord Chancellor Malbraxa,

Excuse the informality of this missive.

Is there a particular reason for which a mindflayer or illithid would be free to walk the streets of Drache? I am under the impression they are not demons - technically. And granted, the one spotted within the Inn this afternoon does not seem particularly bent on rampant distruction - yet. Is it possible for such a creature to survive without the destruction of innocent life? Could perhaps the law on demons be extended to all such creatures which present an immediate threat to life and limb? Granted this may cause consternation on the issue of Drow - whom some might argue would fit this description, as well as Orcs, Thontarans and Korthai.

It is, should action be considered neccesary, no doubt an issue for the consideration of more than a single, particularly junior, Magistrate.

I would also appreciate hearing about any particular investigations into the appearance of such a creature within Drache, however I do understand if this is simply one of those events which must - as so many are - be written off as one of the quirks of Drache.
