Unto Arms-Sergeant Kirin Arnise
Your report has been filed and information forwarded to the Captain.
Winter will be bountied at a considerable sum, and I have drafted
letters to colleagues in Ethcabar and Mysthaven to be on the watch for
this Hurnatod.
If you are done interrogating the Dretch, you may feel free to issue the
order for its dispatching and banishment. If possible, a head on a pike
in the Market Square would not go amiss.
I would not trouble yourself overmuch with the city gates. They are busy
and loose, and there are myriad ways for a clever wretch to sneak
through or buy passage on a ship. The Korthai and the Harbour Master are
notoriously easy to bribe, though the bigger fish they bring in make up
for the smaller ones they let slip through. As well, I would recommend
you lighten your brow upon the internal matters discussed. I forwarded
your suspicions to the Captain, but once word gets out to the rank and
file and the bounty hunters, no matter how solid, tongues wag and word
travels fast in the Drache underground - often aided by scrying spells
and information dealers. Still, the Captain may choose to do as he
wishes with the evidence presented.
While there are few illegal narcotics in Drache, we were able to charge
the church gang you arrested through their connection with the demon and
with the poison. One has offered to hand over information as to an opium
growing operation in order to save his left hand.* This separate
investigation has been handed off to an appropriate Arms-Corporal.
I am pleased with the work of your team. I am not familiar with all of
them, but I understand some of the grunts are too free with their time
while on duty - this is a solid mark in their favour. Though not
successful in the apprehension or destruction of your target, the
diligence shown is a testament. I will inform their individual
commanders of their efforts, as I shall do to your regular CO, who has
now unfortunately been taken to a nearby temple with literally explosive
diarrhea. Terrible matter, that. Probably some sorcery involved.
Me enxenim,
Arms-Lt. Soon Kadmos

*While such narcotics as opium are not illegal in Arangoth, the growing
of it on native soil is quite illegal. There are very possibly other
drugs that are prohibited, but they have not been named.
