Lorendas, the Fifteenth Day of Evening Star in the four hundreth and
seventy-seventh year from the founding of Tagrana

This morning, as I completed my patrol duty, I decided to stop by the Black
Dragon Inn, to have a mug of mulled cider before retiring for the day. As I
neared, I became aware of being watched. Normally, this would not be a
feeling that caused some alarm, afterall, members of the Royal Guard are
frequently watched from the shadows. But I fear that after the previous
incident in the Inn, in which a demonically possessed man endeavored to
assassinate me from behind, I've become slightly paranoid about the feeling.
As it turns out, it is something of a good thing that I have become so. As I
stopped, trying to discern the reason for the feeling of being watched, I
heard what intially sounded like distorted voices, three of them, followed
by the shifting of large, heavy paws. While I was in the process of
investigating the matter, Armswoman Vona Urgarth approached and inquired to
what the problem seemed to be. Shortly after her arrival, the beast made its
presence clear.

As near as I can tell, it appeared to be some sort of demonic dog,
approximately 6 feet in height at the tops of the ears, five feet at the
shoulders. It was large, bulky, muscular, with a long whiplike tail equipped
with barbed spines. Likewise, it had three heads which seemed to function
independently of one another. Armswoman Urgarth determined its infernal
nature straight away, and shortly thereafter, it attacked her. A common
tactic in dealing with beasts larger than yourself, is to strike for the
unprotected stomach, which was precisely what I aimed to do. Unfortunately,
I did not take into consideration that the 'unprotected' belly, may not be
as vulnerable as I anticipated, and I managed only to knick the creature.
Armswoman Urgarth was knocked to the ground by the creature's tail, and I
was attacked and pinned. I did managed to inflict a wound upon one of the
heads, before the Armswoman launched another attack of her own.

The entire ordeal was rather quickly over. The Armswoman managed to remove a
large chunk of flesh from the creatures posterior region by use of her
teeth, and I caused damage to the left front leg. it left a considerable
trail of blood when it fled. The Armswoman and I both sustained injuries,
though hers were worse than my own. The monster escaped us, and I would
recommend using more numbers, should the Guard wish to actively hunt this
creature. Though a beast, it does not appear to be wholly unintelligent.
