A cleric by the name of Ikara requested my presence at the BlkDragon Inn due to a fight occurring there. When I arrived, a drow and a human were engaged in a melee. The drow appeared to speak no Common. (A description of Majesse follows.) I addressed her in Undercommon, but I am not sure if I was understood. The human later identified himself as a member of the Border Watch, and I informed him that I had jurisdiction here, not him. (A description of Savrik Varros follows.) I addressed the two combatants, identifying myself as a guard, instructing them to stand down, and drawing my weapon to lend credence to my request. They did so, although I suspect it was not due to my threat but rather because involving a guard would have made things inconvenient. As no bystanders were hurt and no property damaged, I decided to let them off on a warning. I highly recommend that if either of these individuals is involved in a public melee again, the attending officer should not be so lenient. We usually keep these in the lost and found bin, but lately the bin has been getting really full. So, would the owners of the following items please come forward to collect them? * Trick manacles, found attached to a desk one morning. * 2 pairs of fake vampire fangs, found near manacles the following morning. * Nail file, found near prisoner's cells. * Pair of hefty work boots, stuck in a heavy block of mortar. * Dented shoulder pauldron, charred by dragon fire. * One foreign sword, suitable for a ninja. * Black gem of high value, twinkles with eldrich light. * Assorted candy, in danger of being eaten by office workers. There are many other items stored in the lost and found bins, but these have been in there the longest. We'll be getting rid of them by the end of next week, for those interested in picking them up. --Armswoman Kypree ____________________________________________________________________________________ Park yourself in front of a world of choices in alternative vehicles. Furthermore this report will offer an assessment on the potential danger, and a timeline of when this 'star' will be right over our heads. At the end of Professor Herbord Daranek's speach he was struck in the shoulder by a bolt by a man sitting at the back of the auditorium. To the surprise of myself and the other guards present the man did not get up to leave, he simply stayed, cooperated, and was arrested on the spot. The man has been identified as a citizen of Drache and the kingdom of Arangoth, and goes by the name Arduin Quarflis, he insists the object falling on our city is not dangerous, but something beyond a deity come to take 'believers' away and to paradise. The object in question is falling at a rate of only 430ft per hour the professor said, before he was wounded. It is clear that it is not simply a comet or meteor falling on the city to crush us, but is some form of vehicle, like a boat, but made of rock. We have approximately five days before this object is only a kilometer over the city, to 'collect' the worthy and take them to their 'paradise'. I leave this open to discussion and debate, as well as for view by all guards, so long as the Captain approves, I for one know not what to do, and the professor and other experts are at a complete loss what to do, and seem without a clue how to stop it. It may be prudent to wait for it to get closer to the city so a teleport could potentially get a group upon it, with a contingency to evacuate the city, or move people under ground if thats possible. If our fellow guards and other outside experts could bring together an idea or plan of action, we will certainly prevail. I'm sure you recall the vortex a few years ago, and while I am proud of the service the Guardsmen and Army gave in the name of their country, there were - perhaps - steps we could have taken in advance of the situation. We may find ourselves now able to take such preventative measures if neccesary, in regards to this 'new star' over the city. It may be peaceful and purely benign, but Drache is not a city blessed by Menxvan at the best of times. I wish to know of strange events and strange people in the city. Ordering you and your men to keep watch for the unusual is pointless - this is Drache - but I wish to have more knowledge on the situation at hand. Let's not mince words. I want this done fast. Have copies of these orders posted for the rank and file to read, and make sure they get to this immediately. A task I am setting your men is to get me more information from the streets and people of Drache. I know a madman was captured at the university and interviewed, and where there is one man who thinks he knows something, there is almost certainly another. Find out if there are more. The university have stewardship of a corpse which fell from the 'star' a few days ago. Give me a report on the nature of the creature, aspects both mundane and magical. Either have the university write one up, or have one of the guard do so after interviewing whomever collected the corpse. Finally, I have been told of a group of recent arrivals to our city - the Soycellos - whom I wish interviewed immediately by any guards available for the task. I wish to know who they are, why they have come to Drache, and what they know - or think they know - about the 'star', though it resembles anything but such a thing these days. Have this done quickly and without incident. I expect to have reports on my desk by Sundas eve. Move quickly. By the hand of Serpessa Ul-Terlek Quarflis, Scribe, dictated by the Lord Protector Himself and copied for the guard. Signed and sealed, - Marnuth Ul-Porre Elgabralk, Vorfon Appetire Kei Arna. --- Hop to this quickly, folks! The Lord Protector's a-waiting. Your main point of contact for much of this will be Hatshepsut, or 'Hats', whom can be found in #BDI*OOC, though you may need to ask if she's online, and you can also E-mail her at ladyhatshepsut -at- gmail.com. She's got a number of posts up on the main mailing list, for those wanting to check back on things. ___________________________________________________________ Yahoo! Answers - Got a question? Message-ID: On the command to interview the Strangers I believe I have made some mild amount of progress. Earlier in the Blkdragon, before I went on duty, I met one with his accompanying dwarf, and engaged in lively conversation with him. I was attempting to keep an unofficial atmosphere in an attempt to maximize what information I could get, in the case that he grew suspicious. His head was marked with many symbols, which I have made a copy of from memory. It will be available to those who wish it, and I will be working to decipher its meaning as I would one of my old coded puzzles. From what I gather him and his kind travel widely in search of various atmospheric phenomena, studying them as a matter of course and curiosity. The interest which he showed in tales from my temple regarding astronomical devices betrays an interest in the subject which is commensurate with what one would expect of a scholar. He appeared to communicate with his proxy, a short human, via a series of unknown methods. Regardless, I was able to gather some information. He described the observed course of the phenomena via a series of formula, a copy of which I have included for perusal. With this we should be able to work out the trajectory of the object and determine a rough point and time of origin. He seemed unconcerned over what would happen when the object came down, which seems to indicate that he, at least, does not regard it as a threat to his people. This may or may not apply to the rest of Drache. It is my humble opinion that it is simply scholarly curiosity which has brought these Strangers among us. However it is also my opinion that they know far more than they are immediately willing to tell. It was relatively easy to gather what information I did, however, and I might suggest that others approach these people in a casual manner and request information on other aspects of this phenomenon. A collaborative effort may yield quite a bit. Alternately, careful observation of the methods which these strangers use to communicate may allow eavesdropping from afar.-Arms Recruit Tressevian Xorl _________________________________________________________________ Recharge--play some free games. Assuming it was a couple dallying, I instructed them to find lodging, but was surprised when the taller figure shoved the other toward me and disappeared into the night. The young lady reported that she had been snatched into the alley while walking by and threatened with a knife. She implied that she believed the assailant's motive was sexual assault. I set up a scrying circle and was able to get a reasonable image of the assailant: white hair, human or near-human female, dressed all in black with silver blades and tools. You might also wish to bring this to the attention of the Royal University--perhaps their scholars can shed some light on this strange occurrence.
